That’s why Flemings Department Store is proud to host the RSA Ireland (Road Safety Authority) "Check It Fits" event once again this year, helping families across Monaghan ensure their child’s car seat is installed safely, securely, and correctly.
Why Car Seat Safety Matters More Than Ever
Did you know that in Ireland, as many as four out of five child car seats are fitted incorrectly? That’s a staggering figure and unfortunately, it’s one that can have serious consequences. A poorly installed car seat, even one that looks secure, can fail in a collision, increasing the risk of injury or worse.
Under Irish law, all children under 150cm in height or 36kg in weight must use a car seat appropriate to their size. Beyond the law, every guardian wants peace of mind knowing that their little one is safe each time they travel.
That’s where the RSA’s Check It Fits service steps in. Since its launch in 2013, the RSA has checked over 50,000 car seats across Ireland ensuring that every child travelling on Irish roads is protected.
What Happens at the "Check It Fits" Event?
On Tuesday, October 28th, RSA experts will be stationed in the car park of Flemings Department Store from 9:00am to 5:30pm. The event is completely free and requires no booking — just drop in!
