Baby Seats & Infant Carriers

Your baby's first car journey deserves the safest possible start. Our range of infant carriers is suitable from birth to approximately 15 months, giving you a secure, comfortable seat that's easy to carry in and out of the car and, in many cases, clips straight onto your pushchair for a full travel system.

Every infant carrier we stock is available with a car seat with ISOFIX base as standard or as an option, giving you a faster, more secure fit than a belt-only installation simply click the carrier onto the base rather than re-threading a seatbelt every time.

Not sure what the law requires, or when your baby needs to move to the next stage? Check our FAQs below, or read on for guidance on choosing the right infant carrier for your car and lifestyle.

FAQs

What are the car seat rules in Ireland for babies?

Under Irish law, all children must use an appropriate child restraint until they reach 150cm in height or 36kg in weight. For babies specifically, the law requires rear-facing travel until at least 15 months oldthis is also when most infant carriers reach the end of their suitable use, as babies typically outgrow the seat's height or weight limit around this age. Rear-facing remains the safer option for as long as your seat allows, even beyond 15 months, since it better protects a young child's head, neck and spine in a collision.

What's the difference between an infant carrier and an ISOFIX base?

An infant carrier is the seat itself the part that clips in and out of the car and can double as a car seat carrier when out and about. A car seat with ISOFIX uses a separate base that stays fixed in your car; the carrier then clicks securely onto the base without needing the seatbelt each time. ISOFIX generally gives a faster, more consistent installation and reduces the risk of incorrect fitting compared to belt-only installation, though both methods are safe when fitted correctly.

When does my baby need to move out of an infant carrier?

Most infant carriers are suitable from birth to around 15 months, or once your baby reaches the seat's maximum height or weight limit check the specific limit on your seat, as this varies by model (usually around 75–85cm). Once they outgrow the infant carrier, the next stage is a forward-facing or extended rear-facing seat, suitable from 15 months. Browse our Forward Facing Car Seats range for the next stage.
